9.3.1. Configuring Postfix with MC

You can accomplish Postfix configuration through a set of configuration files represented by the Mail transport component. This plugin has five tabs, corresponding to configuration files in /etc/postfix on the firewall.

Together these tabs, actually, the files they directly correspond to, make up the majority of typical Postfix configuration.

As you see, it is technically possible to create a full featured SMTP server on the PNS machine, but it is definitely not recommended.

Note

Unless you have a definite reason to use the Postfix component, for example, you have complex mail routing requirements, use the SMTP proxy to perform mail proxying on your PNS firewall.
