12.2.2.1. DNS load balancing

DNS load balancing is based on the native behavior of name resolution, that is when the DNS server resolves a domain name into more than one IP addresses the client chooses one IP from the answers using the round robin algorithm. Though for the decision the client disregards the actual load of the server, the solution results in balanced load in the system. In this case the firewalls offer a non-transparent service, because the client targets the firewall itself.
