9.3.1. Configuring Postfix with MC

You can accomplish Postfix configuration through a set of configuration files represented by the Mail transport component. This plugin has five tabs, corresponding to configuration files in /etc/postfix on the firewall.

Together these tabs, actually, the files they directly correspond to, make up the majority of typical Postfix configuration.

As you see, it is technically possible to create a full featured SMTP server on the PNS machine, but it is definitely not recommended.

Note

It is recommended to use the SMTP proxy to perform mail proxying on your PNS firewall. The Postfix component shall only be used, for example, in case of complex mail routing requirements.
